Using the attached document, you will be given $200 to invest in stocks from the 1920′s. Spend all of you money and plot their progress on the chart at the bottom of the page. If you have any questions, see me in class.
Go to the videos page and watch all 5 clips from the America: The Story of Us episode entitled Boom. As you are watching answer the following questions:
1. How did the U.S. change after huge amounts of oil were discovered in Texas in1901? Do you think this event still shapes our lives today?
2. Why did Los Angeles city leaders need to seek water sources outside the city? What do you think were the risks of bringing in water from beyond the city limits?
3. What was the “Great Migration” and when did it take place?
4. Why do you think there was so much tension and violence against African
Americans in urban areas in the 1910s and 1920s?
5. What were some of the reasons for and against Prohibition in the 1920s?
Despite the ban on alcohol, why do you think sales of liquor continued, and
what were some methods police used to stop it?
Open the attached document, read the directions, read through the outline of the outcomes of the Treaty of Versailles and answer the writing prompt at the end of the document.
Google the Zimmerman Note and read some background information on this document. Then, open the document attached bellow, read the Zimmerman not and answer the 4 questions that follow.
Imagine that you are fighting in WWI, in the trenches. Write a letter to a loved one (Mom, Dad, sibling, spouse, best friend) that details what a soldier must have been thinking in the trenches.
Think about: Fears, experiences, sights, sounds, smells
Must be at least 2/3 of a page no more than 1 page.

Here is a review sheet that you can use a s a check list to tell if you are ready for the final. Go through the list and see if you can identify each person, place or thing and tell why it is significant. If this task is easy for you, you are good to go… if you struggle with some topics than you know what you need to go back and look up in your notes.
